Mercedes World in London

I'm heading to London this weekend - to do a bunch of carhappy stuff - you can do some guessing about what and where I will do, as I will be there for 10 days (meaning 2 weekends). Looking at a F1 calendar might help as well, but let's exclude what would be the obvious - I'm not going to the English GP (but almost)! So give me your guesses!

Anyways, this is a post about some London adventures back in January: if you are not really keen on taking on a mission impossible to Silverstone, Mercedes-Benz World is pretty well-connected, and you don't even need to spend 3 hours on public transport (well, I guess it depends on which part of London you're coming from).

At first blink, it seemed to be just a Mercedes showroom, therefore it didn't make me very enthusiastic, but I warmed up to it. Also a big plus, that visiting is completely free.

They have a timeline about human achievement, end even though it only partly has to do with cars, it blew my mind, I felt like being a part of something bigger, something great, it was nice. That famous installation of an F1 car disassembled and hung up right where you start your tour. It is a beauty and if you go on, you'll find the part that is dedicated to F1. They don't only have Mercedes cars, but others as well powered by Mercedes engine. Here is also their scalextric track of their real track outside, it's pretty neat. Me and my friend did a round with proper qualifying and race. I felt like Verstappen (though, he never did that in a Mercedes), because I got pole than I won! :D

There is also a reflex game with the lights, that you can try, and also three helmets with different G-force levels (you can just lift them to try, but cannot be put on your head), and of course the simulators!! Here, you can race against your friends, which we did, and I felt a great sense of improvement, because I was explained the rules, so I knew to follow the racing line, this way I managed to crash significantly less and what I also managed to do is not be last!! BTW, nobody was around (this was a regular Monday evening), and the guys offered us one extra round, which we took gratefully - it was very kind of them and we had great fun. My muscles were sore the next day, so whoever says that motorsports are not real sports is obviously wrong.

I also took some pictures on the podium (there are two of them, so take your choice), and we also checked the top floor with the "regular" Gran Tourismo type of simulators but didn't try them. What we also didn't try is the different kinds of Mercedes experiences on the track or off-road. They were out of budget, so I skipped, but we could see them through the window and the driving on the wet track looked very fun, so if you're into that, maybe it's worth more for you than paying the train tickets and the museum ticket up to Silverstone!
