I am almost always leaving my country to do some F1 adventures, but I thought why not explore my surroundings here in Hungary. So I decided to check the renovation of the Hungaroring and see from above how they are doing.

I could do this, because right next to the Hungaroring, there is a smaller mountain with a lookout tower that is easily accessible and has a great view, especially to the Hungaroring.

I took the metro (line H8) from the Örs vezér tere (I have a monthly pass, so I only had to buy a  supplementary ticket, which cost me 800 HUF return, it is less than 2 EUR) until Mogyoród and from there I only had to walk. It is about 20 minutes, not a lot of elevation, so I’d call it more of a walk than a hike. At the beginning the road is paved then it changes to dirt then finally gravel.

The lookout tower is called Szent László kilátó, and after some stairs and a ladder there is an amazing view to all 4 directions. Unfortunately, some trees and bushes have grown next to it, so the view to the Hungaroring is a bit limited, but you can still see the majority of it. Right now, of course it is under construction, which is clearly visible from the distance as well – there are a lot of cranes.

I suggest taking a binocular with you (which I have forgotten) to have an even better chance of seeing details. The walk is an easy one, so you can go on one of the sunny autumn days (if we will have any more of them) or any other time of the year, even in the winter, when there are clear weather conditions.
